UPAEP – OSU Dual Degree Masters Program

About Dual Degree Program:

The Centro Interdisciplinario de Posgrado, Investigación y Consultoría UPAEP has created with Oklahoma State University - OSU in the United States a great variety of dual degree master programs. These programs provide student participants from each institution with an opportunity to study in and benefit from the academic and cultural environment of the other institution. For each degree, the student will have a “home” institution and a “host” institution at which the student studies abroad, taking courses in partial fulfillment of the “host” institution’s degree requirements.

The UPAEP graduate programs have been highly recognized by OSU experts due to their innovative design, quality and flexibility required in the actual global world. This agreement is unique in Mexico for its program variety (21 programs).

Description

Dual master’s programs are divided in three phases:

First phase at the “home university” OSU: Participating students spend one year at the home institution, taking 5-8 courses (typically from 15 to 24 American credit hours; 30-56 Mexican credit hours). An adviser will be assigned to each student in the program.

Second phase at the partner university UPAEP: An adviser will be assigned to each student at the host university. With the aid of the adviser, the participating student would spend one year at the host institution, taking the required course work to complete the degree requirements at the host university.

Third phase at either university, thesis. In order to earn a degree, the student must complete the degree requirements of each pertinent institution, including the writing of a thesis or the successful completion of a “capstone” course or a comprehensive exam (depends on the program).

Candidates for a dual degree program must apply to and be accepted by each program separately.

Given the UPAEP and OSU flexibility, students in the Dual Degree program have a wide variety of courses to select from in order to satisfy their personal and professional goals.

Tuition, Fees and Costs

For the purposes of this Dual Degree Program, the OSU and UPAEP students will be assessed a tuition fee at a rate arranged bilaterally between both institutions. These rates will depend on the number of courses taken by each student and the current student rates. A contract to this effect has been established between each partner school.

An estimate of cost-of-living expenses in Mexico, including housing, food, transportation, books and materials, and personal expenses is approximately $500 per month, As expected, this amount will vary according to each individual’s preferences and circumstances.
