Scholarships for Mexican Students

OSU is committed to the internationalization of education in the State of Oklahoma, as well as building better relationships with our southern neighbor and partner in higher education. As part of this commitment, OSU offers partial tuition scholarships to outstanding Mexican students who want to do their graduate studies at Oklahoma State University.

The scholarship consists of a waiver of the nonresident portion of the university’s tuition- this covers more than half of the education expenses for students pursuing Master's or Doctoral degrees.

Education Cost:

* Tuition and fees estimates based on full time enrollment of 9 hours for graduate students per semester in 2009-10.

** Mexican Student Scholarship (MSS) recipients receive approximately a 60% reduction in education costs when compared with typical International students.

Other Expenses

*Other Expenses is an average based on the typical standard of living of an American student. These expenses are completely dependent on the lifestyle of each individual student and they are not obligatory.

To be eligible for, qualify for, receive and maintain the tuition waiver

1. A. To be eligible for this waiver, the applicant must:
   1. Be a citizen of Mexico, may not hold dual citizenship, or have intent to become a U. S. Permanent Resident.
   2. Be eligible to obtain legal status for full-time study in the U. S.
   3. Submit a complete application to the Graduate College.
   4. Meet the admission minimum test scores (TOEFL, GMAT or GRE) required by the applied college or program.

1. B. To qualify and receive the waiver, the applicant must:
   1. Demonstrate citizenship through required documentation*.
   2. Obtain legal F-1 or J-1 student visa documents.
   3. Enroll in full-time study (9 hours for graduate students) and maintain full-time study throughout the fall and spring semesters.
   4. Attend the International Student and Scholars orientation for new students.
   5. Report to the international Students and Scholars office within the first week of classes with all documents.

1. C. In order to maintain the tuition waiver during the course of study at the University the approved applicant must:
   1. File a Tuition Waiver Recertification Application every spring before April 1 that demonstrates continued financial need.
   2. Maintain full-time enrollment at all times during the fall and spring semester.
   3. Not violate any of the INS regulations that govern the F-1 or J-1 status and place the student out of status.
   4. Maintain at least a 3.0 GPA or the required GPA in the student's chosen program.
